Backstory

Before

His childhood is something he rarely dwells upon, filled with much regret and poor decisions. Having been born into the silence and trade of the Qestir tribe on the Steppe, Wylan never truly felt at home with their ways. Rebellious behavior to a grandmother after the sudden loss of his parents leads to the auri Xaelan consorting with many of the visitors and merchants that came through Reunion. Wylan learned language from some in secret, betraying the tenets of his tribe and speaking and joking with them. This behavior and fraternizing culminates when a conniving merchant exploits his willingness to find purpose beyond the tribe.That purpose takes him far from the Azim Steppe and far below what he had been promised. Rather than a life of grandeur and pride he was thrown into the realm of pit fighting and gambling in the seedy underbelly of Thanalan. Debts were accrued out of necessity to keep himself alive. Food. Water. Anywhere to stay. He fought to survive in more ways than one in the sand pits.It would be years before the youth had gotten himself somewhere he could feel a sense of life again. Perhaps it was too late, an ironic sense of humor had been instilled in him with his recklessness and survival instinct. The ring in which he had been trapped was broken up when he could be considered an adult, and he set his eyes on two things-Glory. And vengeance. And excitement.Ok, so maybe it was three things.

Current

In some sense his life flipped like a mirror. His talents were not thrown to the wayside, oh no no. He became a respectable pitfighter in officially sanctioned arenas as part of the Gladiator's guild. His style of combat weaving in motion of the body like a dance earned wide appeal that brought coin to the arenas.Just as often does he find himself in the glitzy halls of the Golden Saucer. Not so much for coin or debt but mischief and trickery. He's known there for his luck and skill with cards, though, more for sleight of hand than gambling.The search is still ongoing for the members of the cartel that treated him and many others like merchandise, pawns to throw about the dirt for quick bloody gil. He seeks what information he can and brokers other bits and pieces he gathers along the way. Such services helped him find a place with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn as a member and informant after their restoration and relocation in Mor Dhona. A mutual relationship as their resources aid him in his private endeavors as well.And in case you're wondering, no, most of the organization doesn't care for his behavior.

Hooks

- Gladiator and swordsman of some repute, it wouldn't be outlandish to recognize him as a fighter from Ul'dah or a spectacle duelist at the Saucer.- Those frequent to the Golden Saucer, both past and present, may recognize the Xaela as a performer and patron.- While it's a stretch to call him a rogue, some of his earlier dealings as a pitfighter have him connected with the underground scene. Especially since he pokes around searching for his former 'master'.- Was your character involved in shady BS Ul'dah goings-ons in the past? They may know one another.- Money changes hands frequently as a result of his history and current preoccupations. Does he owe your character money? Are you collecting? Aw shit.- Frequent people watcher, you're free to accuse him of staring or behaving suspiciously.- Look at him. He's an idiot. Just slap him. SERIOUSLY.

Out of Character

The Player

Hey hello! I typically go by Bear around the internets. Thanks for checking this card out. While I'm completely new to roleplay on FFXIV I'm down for most plots and related RP things. Feel free to shoot a tell and we can build something quick. Come up with a scenario, etc!
- Male, 30s, Married
- IC != OOC
- Typically write in paragraphs, but I'm just as happy to do quick fire shitposts if it meets the mood!
- Not actively seeking ERP related things, despite how my character may act. I'd rather such things be plot relevant or similar.
- Open to writing on tumblr or discord as well as in game. Just let me know if that better fits your fancy. It happens to be what I'm used to!
